What will they ask you?
Expect a few simple questions. They help the provider understand your door before anyone arrives.
- What is the door doing? Stuck, noisy, crooked, or not moving at all?
- Did you hear a loud bang before it stopped? That can point to a broken spring.
- Is the door open or closed right now?
- How old is the door, and what type of opener does it have?
- What days and times suit your schedule for a visit?
Photos can help, if the provider asks for them.
What should you ask a provider?
A good conversation goes both ways. Here are questions worth asking:
- Can I get the quote in writing before work starts?
- Does the quote include parts, labor, and disposal of the old door?
- Can you check track alignment while you are here?
- Are springs and openers new, and is there a warranty from the maker or the provider?
- Are you licensed and insured where I live?
- How long will the visit take, so I can plan my day?
For a new door, ask about insulation, wind ratings, and how the door will cope with cold, snowy winters.
Is emergency help possible?
Some providers offer emergency garage service, and some do not. Hours and response times vary. Request a callback to check provider availability for your situation.
